8 years, 9 months, 19 days

That is how long I had the privilege of sharing my life with one of the most incredible creatures I believe to ever have been on this earth.  I called her Lucy. She was born on January 6, 2006. I brought her home on February 25th. I said goodbye on November 14, 2014.

Many would refer to her as special, person-like, and soulful. She would come to touch the lives of dozens of people and their pets. At The Pet Campus, where she went to daycare since 6-months old, they would come to refer to her as their “Golden Ticket.” Everyone would acknowledge her unique personality within minutes of meeting her.

As for me, I would be forever changed by this creature. She would teach me lessons about love and respect that I didn’t know I could learn from a dog.  Those lessons – and our bond – would lead me down the path of becoming a certified dog trainer so that I could help other dog owners build the kind of bond that Lucy and I shared.

On November 14, 2014, I had to say an unexpected and painful goodbye. Physically, Lucy – my Goose, my Toot – would no longer be with me.  Spiritually, she will forever be a part of me.  I will love her and continue to share all of what she taught me until the time I get to see her again.
